Alfaretta P. ''Alfie'' Leeper, 89, of Belle Vernon, died Wednesday, November 18, 2015 in Nedrow's Personal Care Home. Born in Rostraver Township on July 12, 1926, she was the daughter of the late John and Madge (Earley) Indof.
Alfaretta was a member of Rehoboth Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder, deacon, choir member and fellowship chairwoman. She was a long- time member of Alpha & Omega and Phoebe & Priscilla church ladies groups. She loved helping with the fundraising dinners at the church, including the Chicken 'n Biscuit dinner, Strawberry Festival and bake sales. She was a life-long member of the Rostraver #919 PA State Grange. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed garage sales, polka music, baking apple sheet pies and her famous "cabbage rolls".
She was a loving, caring, giving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She had a way of bringing out the very best in everyone who had the fortune to know her. We will miss her greatly and cherish our time with her on earth.
She is survived by her daughters, Joanne Lynch of Penn Run and Laurie Lynne (Denton) Hough of Acme; son-in-law, Jerry Sirofchuck of Mercer; daughter-in-law, Lorraine Leeper of Belle Vernon; eight grandchildren, Diane (John) Zacherl, Tim (Nanette) Sirofchuck, Bud (Tracey) Leeper, Andrea (Jason) Shoaf, Jennifer (Bernie) Lieb, Melissa Lynch, Rebecca (Joshua) Hemmerle and Joshua Hough; ten great grandchildren, Taylor and Chris Zacherl, Jensen and Jake Sirofchuck, Justin, Cody and Kelsey Leeper, Allie Lieb, and Hayden and Chasadi Hemmerle; sister; Shirley Podvia of Belle Vernon; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Wayne Leeper; daughter, Nancy Sirofchuck; son, Harold 'Buddy' Leeper; son-in-law, Dr. David M. Lynch; sister, Eleanor Povirk; brothers, Blair Beaumont, Vernon Indof and Frank Indof.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Belle Vernon/Rostraver Township (724-929-7934) www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com where a Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Richard Klein officiating. Interment will follow in Rehoboth Cemetery.
