Betty Louise Rose Moore Martino Turcaso, 82, of Washington died at home on Saturday, July 1, 2017. Born in North Charleroi on October 14, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Ebert Lee and Lucinda Ellen (Moon) Moore.
Betty retired from Giant Eagle Supermarkets Inc. after 31 years of service as a meat wrapper. She was a 1952 graduate of Bellmar High School and was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church in Washington. She was a member of the Monongahela Valley Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, where she served two terms as Regent and many years as Registrar, later transferring to the National Pike Chapter DAR. She also belonged to the American Legion Post 175 in Washington.
Betty was very active for many years at the Washington Senior Citizens Center, where she served as a volunteer, was on the Board of Directors, and twice served as President of the board. She enjoyed performing in the singing and dancing group from the center, when they performed their show for many local functions and received great reviews. Betty loved to play cards, Bingo, dominoes and she loved line dancing.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl L. White and husband, Donald White Jr. of Washington; stepson, David Turcaso of Washington state; son-in-law, Charles Swantek of Belle Vernon; grandchildren, Tina Shrader of Washington, Brian (Amy) Swantek of Belle Vernon, Jayme (T. J.) Hood of Jefferson Boro, Michael (Erin) Swantek of Pittsburgh and Dawn Allison White of Washington; step-grandson, Dante Turcaso of Wall; great-grandchildren, Shaylynne and Nathan Shrader, Lily and Chloe Swantek, Mason, Tristen and Madison McGuirk and Logan Hood, and Vincent, Dominic and Camden Swantek; brother, Robert Roucroft of Ocean City, Maryland.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her two husbands, James Martino of Dunlevy and Rudy Turcaso of Monessen; daughter, Marilyn Cathleen Swantek of Belle Vernon; infant son, John Allen Martino; stepson, Nicolas Turcaso of Monessen.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Belle Vernon/Rostraver Township ( 724-929-7934 ) www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com where a Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Jason Hefner officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to Amedisys Hospice, Faith United Presbyterian Church or the Washington Senior Citizens Center.
