David Ewing Richter, III, 67, of Elizabeth, died Thursday, August 18, 2016 in AHN Jefferson Hospital. Born in Mustard Hollow, Elizabeth Township on July 31, 1949, he was the son of the late David E. Richter, Jr. and Jenny (Sorton) Richter, who survives.
David began working at age 15 at Vaira's Gas Station on Route 51 and was a 1967 graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School. He was a blacksmith for National Tube and a carpenter for Dick Corporation and Westinghouse. He was a game warden for the PA Fish Commission and a former member of Victory Volunteer Fire Dept. He enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life; loved John Wayne, Penn State and Steeler football, oldies, classic country, his dogs and his cat, Cleo.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Mary Kay (Connell) Richter; daughter, Samantha R. Richter; sister, Barbara L. Richter-Gallagher; niece, Chloe (Mo) Gallagher; step-daughter; Jeffrie (Ron) Kozusko and her sons, Brad and Adam; uncles, Frank (Janet) Sorton, Wildie (Janice) Richter, Carl Skip Richter; aunts, Violet Panczyn, Jean Sorton, Norma Jean Taylor and Lynn Sorton; and his best friend of over 50 years, Denver Swope.
Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Belle Vernon/Rostraver Township (724-929-7934) www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com where a Funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Round Hill Cemetery.
