Donald Cunningham

Donald G. Cunningham, Sr., 93, of Rostraver Township died Sunday, June 26, 2016 in AHN Jefferson Hospital. Born in Donora on June 25, 1923, he was the son of the late William A. and Lennis (Greenwood) Cunningham.
Don was retired from US Steel Monroeville Research Lab where he worked as an Analytical Chemist. He served in the US Merchant Marine as an Ensign during World War II. He was a member of the Church of St. Anne in Rostraver, where he was an usher for many years. Don, beloved by Emma, was loved by all who knew him. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Emma C. (Povirk) Cunningham; daughters, Barbara C. (John P.) Hampton of Ocala, FL and Beverly C. Stump of Rostraver Township; daughter-in-law, Cynthia M. Cunningham; grandchildren, Shawn M. (Debbie) Stump, Gregory W. Cunningham and Jeffrey A. (Christie) Stump; great grandchildren, Shawna Stump (Zak) Voreh
and Bryce Donald Stump; great great grandchildren, Bentley J. Stump Voreh and Ellie M. Voreh; and sister, Viola M. Little of Rostraver Township.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Donald G. Cunningham, Jr.; grandson, Jeffrey E. Stump; brother and sisters, William R. Cunningham, Alice J. Sloane and Doris L. Povirk; and son-in-law, John E. Stump.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Belle Vernon/Rostraver Township (724-929-7934) www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com where a Blessing Service will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in the Church of St. Anne, Rostraver Township, with Rev. Vincent J. Gigliotti as celebrant. Interment, with Military Honors, will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to a charity of ones choice.
