Donna R. Thomas

Donna Ross Hall Thomas, 93, of West Newton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 1, 2023. Born in McKeesport on February 12, 1930, she was the daughter of the late John C. and Sara (Thompson) Ross.

Donna graduated from West Newton High School in 1948 and from Stenotypist School of Pittsburgh in 1949. She then enlisted in the US Air Force and trained to be a weather observer. She honorably served her country for 4-1/2 years in Wiesbaden, Germany and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.

She is survived by her daughter, Vanna Vance of Jacksonville, FL; son, John (Cathy) Hall of Sutersville; step-daughters, Susan Thomas of Charleroi and Tracey Thomas of California; granddaughters, Kimberly (John) Testone of Syracuse, NY and Jessica (Jim) Huston of West Newton; great-grandchildren, Jimmy, Lylah and Julie Huston; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Henry "Ed" Thomas; sister, Jean McCorkle; brothers, J. William Ross and Jerome Ross.

Interment, with Military Honors, will be in West Newton Cemetery.
