Dorothy Mildred (Coughenour)Higgins, 98, of Rostraver Township, went peacefully to be with her Lord on Sunday, February 5, 2017 in Dunlevy Manor. Born in Donora on September 8, 1918, she was the daughter of the late William and LuVada (Hughes) Coughenour.
A homemaker, Dorothy married Oliver Higgins on July 4, 1944. They resided in Donora until 1958, when they moved to Rostraver. Dorothy loved making crafts and liked to travel; she was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Charleroi.
She is survived by her children, Bonnie Higgins Galiottoof Belle Vernon andGary (Judy Hamilton) Higgins of Belle Vernon; granddaughters, Tara Mills (Lawrence) Shillingburg of Warrenton, Virginia, Stephanie Higgins Indofof Belle Vernon andAmanda Galiotto (Brandon) Anderson of Belle Vernon; great-grandchildren, Courtney and Dalton Mills, Brandon and Gianna Anderson and Connor Indof; sister, LaVaughn Roberts of Belle Vernon.
In addition to her parents; Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Higgins on July 9, 1991; her son-in-law, John Galiotto; three brothers and a sister.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m. in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Belle Vernon/Rostraver Township (724-929-7934) www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com where a Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with Thomas Hamer officiating. Interment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park.
