Following a courageous two year battle with cancer, Dr. Matthew J. Davies, 28, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 5, 2015 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. A resident of Hunker, he was born in Pittsburgh on May 9, 1987, the son of John M. and Nancy (Nestler) Davies of Rostraver Township.
Dr. Davies was a graduate of BVA High School and the University of Pittsburgh, where he received his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree. He worked at the CVS Pharmacy in Somerset. He was an avid sports fan and loved Pitt Panthers and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
In addition to his parents, John and Nancy, Matt is survived by his sister, Jill Marissa (Ken) Kisucky of Midland; nephew, Jackson Kisucky and niece, Clea Kisucky; maternal grandmother, Correne McNally of Castle Shannon; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and "Matt's Army" of friends and family. He was greeted at heaven's gate by his beloved dog, Ripley.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Belle Vernon/Rostraver Township (724-929-7934) www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com where a Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Ken Sommerfeldt officiating. Interment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Park.
