Ethel Rose (Novota) Shupe, age 98, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Ohio on February 16th, 2024. She was born in Yukon, Pennsylvania to Robert and Josephine Novota and resided in Belle Vernon for most of her life.
Ethel was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Glenn W. Shupe, and siblings Virginia DeTorres, John, Joseph, and Francis Morvetz.
She was a beloved mother to daughter Beverly (Richard) Kreuter; grandmother to Krista (Alan) Chen and Kelly (Scott) Cook; great-grandmother to Laura Beth (Mike) Kalvas, Max Chen, Felicity Cook, Tessa Chen, and Alex Cook; and great-great-grandmother to Eleanor Kalvas; plus many nieces and nephews.
Ethel was a wonderful homemaker and cook. She also worked many jobs throughout her life but was most proud working at Robertshaw`s doing her part for the war effort.
Ethel was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church for 78 years. She enjoyed teaching both Sunday and Bible School, helping organize the church library, and singing in the choir.
Friends will be received on Thursday, February 22nd from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township (724-929-7934) www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com followed by a Funeral Service at 12 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Olive Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
