Florence Y. Shimchick

Florence Y. Shimchick, 105, of Greensburg, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 after suffering a stroke. Born in Fellsburg on October 9, 1917, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Huhra) Sholtis.

Florence was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Greensburg, where she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society. She was also a member of the Dry Ridge Garden Club and the Ladies Card Club.

She is survived by her son, Mark Shimchick; sister, Patricia Behanna; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Shimchick in 1974; 3 sisters and 2 brothers.

A Private Blessing Service was held in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township (724-929-7934) www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com followed by interment, next to her late husband, John, in West Newton Cemetery.

Florence loved animals, so the family suggests memorial contributions to the Animal Rescue Center of one's choice.
