Gino D. Ferrara, 88, of Fayette City, died Friday, January 4, 2019. Born in Monessen on September 25, 1930, he was the son of the late Enrico and Algisa Ferrara.
Gino was a steelworker and worked at the U S Steel Irvin Works for 40 years. He was a member of the Fayette City Volunteer Fire Company, the CAS Ambulance Service, the American Legion and was a Board member of Center on the Hill. He served his country in the Army National Guard from 1948 to 1951; then he enlisted in the U S Marine Corps and served from 1951 to 1954.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Shirley Mae (Jolley) Ferrara; sons, Robert (Marsha) Ferrara and Ronald (Tracey) Ferrara; daughter, Mary Jane (Douglas) Peters; grandchildren, Sheryl Lehnhardt, Suzanne Kruppa, Emily Dunn and Hunter Ferrara; great grandchildren, Maria, Gio, Felicia and Laila Kruppa, Laurel Lehnhardt and Wyatt Dunn; and sister, Sylvia Davis.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Douglas Peters; and brothers, Albert and Barto Ferrara.
Friends will be received on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township (724-929-7934) www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com where a Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Ken Sommerfeldt officiating. Interment, with Military Honors, will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
