Harley L. Sickles, Jr., 82, of Monessen passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Thursday, January 16, 2025. Born in Webster on May 25, 1942, he was the son of the late Harley L. and Frances D. (Seiple) Sickles.
Harley was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was a man of great integrity, determination, honesty and dependability, who upheld strong moral principles. He was a 1960 graduate of Rostraver High School. He was an employee of the United States Postal Service as a clerk for 36 years, mostly as the window clerk at the Belle Vernon Post Office. In his younger years, Harley loved to hunt and fish and loved taking the grandchildren to Mammoth Park to teach them how to fish. He enjoyed watching NFL Football and was a devout Steeler fan. He also enjoyed watching Nascar Racing. A talented man who could fix almost anything, he was always willing to help his friends and neighbors. He loved woodworking, making porch furniture, refinishing old furniture and making heirlooms for his grandchildren. He also enjoyed gardening, doing yardwork, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kathleen (Fell) Sickles; daughter, Heather Schultz; grandchildren, Kylie Lusk, Colton Lusk and Chloe Lusk; sister, Beverly (Ralph) Staley; sister-in-law; Glenna Sickles; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Sickles.
The family would like to thank the AHN Hospice Staff, especially Pam, Maggie and Abby, for their kindness and compassionate care.
As per Harley’s wishes, a Private Funeral Service was held in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township (724-929-7934) www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com followed by interment in Fells Cemetery.
