Howard Cecil Forsythe

Howard Cecil Forsythe, 93, of Rostraver Township passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, August 24, 2024 after fighting a brief illness. Born in Ellwood City on April 5, 1931, he was the son of the late Marion and Pearl (Lancaster) Forsythe.

Howard was raised in Jacobs Creek and graduated from South Huntingdon High School. He was drafted into the US Army and honorably served his country during the Korean War. Howard retired from POMCO in McKeesport and the Belle Vernon Area School District. He was a member of the VFW #699 and the Odd Fellows (IOOF) and was also a past member of Rostraver Grange #919. A "jack of all trades" Howard also loved to listen to Polkas and enjoyed watching Gunsmoke and the Pirates on TV. 

He is survived by his daughter, Beth Ann Forsythe of Donora; grandchildren, Angela (Kendrick) Glover of Donora, Breanna (Detrius) Wade of Washington and Larissa Lee of Donora; great-grandchildren, Jamiah and Jayla Glover, Ariella and Alana Coleman, Apollo Wade and Lamari Lee; son-in-law; Ronald Ritchie of Belle Vernon; brother, Gerald Forsythe of Columbus, OH; and sister-in-law, Linda Behanna of Belle Vernon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Sally L. Marciniak Forsythe; and his daughter, Beverly Ritchie.

Friends will be received on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township (724-929-7934) www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com where a Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. with Elders Thomas Hamer and Carl Hughes co-officiating. Interment will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery.
