James D. Chaybin

James D. Chaybin, 81, of Belle Vernon died at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, January 19, 2017. Born at home on the farm in South Huntington Township on August 14, 1935, he was the son of the late James and Anna (Holod) Chaybin.
James retired from the U. S. Post Office in 1992 after 31 years of service with the Belle Vernon Post Office. He carried the mail for 24 years in Fairhope. He was a member of Fells United Methodist Church and was a former Scout Leader for Fellsburg Troop 591. After retirement, he enjoyed woodcraft and operated Chaybin Custom Wood Shop. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart to whom he was married for 62 years, Barbara (Boris) Chaybin; sons, David P. (Jeannie Gardner) Chaybin of Washington Twp., Donald G. (Cindy Sarber) Chaybin of Greenville PA and Douglas J. (Marybeth Ramusivich) Chaybin of Belle Vernon; grandchildren, Kayla (Shannon) McKenzie, Rachael (Brian) Anderson, Jessica (Colby) Bilski, Katy (Travis) Yeager, Kristin Kimball, James (Kayla) Chaybin and Karlee (Chase) Dongilli; great grandchildren, Hunter and Olivia McKenzie, Abigail Anderson, Braelynn Bilski, Cooper Yeager, Rylee and Kynslee Kimball, and Kendall Dongilli; brother, William Chaybin of Latrobe; sisters, Anne England of state of California, Mary Lou Kuchta of Elyria, Ohio and Grace Buckman of Detroit, Michigan.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by brothers, John and Michael Chaybin; and an infant brother and sister.
Friends will be received on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Belle Vernon/Rostraver Township (724-929-7934) www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com A Funeral service will be held on Monday at 1:00 pm with Pastor Bruce Merritt, Pastor Kent Lighthall and Chaplain Mark Clark of Promise Hospice co-officiating. Interment will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Fells United Methodist Church.
