James R. Glass, 87, of Webster, died Friday, December 4, 2020. Born in Donora on February 26, 1933, he was the son of the late Ralph E. and Susan E. (Timko) Glass.
Jim worked at the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh for 38 years; he was passionate about building the miniature train at Buhl Planetarium. He loved astronomy, sports and spending quality time with his grandchildren. He was very dedicated to taking care of his wife, Irene.
He is survived by his wife, Irene E. (Pakish) Glass; sons, Robert (Nancy) Glass of Rostraver and David Glass (Tracy Toplonak) of Monongahela; daughter, Denise (Brian) Beckinger of Fayette City; grandchildren, Natalie Podkul, Danielle Giannini, Chad Ebbitt, Michael Ebbitt, Ryan Kandsberger and Brandon Glass; great grandchildren, Domenick, Gianna, Mark, Spencer
Teagan, Gavin and Rylee; siblings, Lois Vitale of Rostraver, Clifford Glass of Quakertown, PA and Shirley (Herman) Blick of The Villages, FL.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Glass.
Friends will be received on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township (724-929-7934) www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com where a Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11a.m. with Pastor Donald Glunt officiating. Interment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Carnegie Science Center, 1 Allegheny Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15221 or to the American Cancer Society.
Everyone attending the visitation and services must wear a mask and practice social distancing. Only 25 people are permitted in the funeral home at a time.
