John Popovec

John Popovec, 95, of West Newton, died Saturday, March 17, 2018 in Harmon House Care Center. Born on July 23, 1922, he was the son of the late Michael and Ilona Popovec.
John was retired from the Uniontown office of the PA Bureau of Employment Security as an office manager. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion, the VFW and the Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his sister, Agnes Tomich; as well as 10 nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Dacko Popovec on April 18, 2010; two brothers and three sisters.
Friends will be received on Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township (724-929-7934) www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com where a Funeral service will be held on Monday at 1p.m. with the Very Reverend Constantine Curchin officiating. Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery.
