Kevin Show Porter, 65, of Rostraver Township, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center after his battle with Appendiceal Cancer. Born in Mount Pleasant on June 19, 1959, he was the son of the late Charles Vance and Edna Muriel (Show) Porter.
A lifelong resident of Rostraver Township, Kevin was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church, where he served in many capacities throughout the years - Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, Trustee and most notably, he was the Church Treasurer for the past thirty years. Kevin was also a member of the choir and known for his beautiful voice, which he inherited from his mother. Chemo took Kevin's singing voice, but we praise God that he is singing again in heaven along with his mother.
Kevin was a devout Christian with unwavering faith, especially during the most difficult days that he faced, it only made his love of Jesus stronger. It was Kevin's utmost desire and prayer that all come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. He was the most loving husband, dad, pappy, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend that anyone could ever imagine or want.
He was a Materials Science Engineer for forty-three years, but his true passion was farming on his family farm. A 1977 graduate of Belle Vernon Area High School and a 1981 graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, Kevin recently retired from Fluor Marine Propulsion Corporation (Bechtel Bettis) in West Mifflin.
He is survived by his adoring wife and junior high sweetheart, Judith Ann (Gerda) Porter; three children, Malerie Dolton, Jonathan Porter and Stephanie Travis; his sons-in-law and daughter-in-law, his bonus children, whom he loved like his own, Ryan Dolton, Jessica Porter and Adam Travis. He is also survived by his greatest joys, his seven grandchildren, Lillie and Ryan Dolton, Raegyn, Madisyn and Nathan Porter, and Oliver and Lydie Travis; his brother and best friend, Charles Porter and his wife, Patricia; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Robert and Kathleen Gruber, Matthew and Christine Carson, Joe and Patricia Melvin and Jonetta Holloway; and numerous nieces and nephews, who were all very special to him.
In addition to his parents, Kevin was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Jon Gerda; and his mother-in-law, Patricia Gerda.
The family would like to thank everyone who cared for Kevin during his illness including; Dr. Jason Stepp and staff, all of the nurses at the infusion center at AHN Cancer Institute and his very special nurse, Kelly.
“Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows: Yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: The chastisement for our peace was upon Him; and by his stripes we are healed.” Isaiah 53:4-6
