Mary Jane Simonson

Mary Jane Simonson, 94, of Donora, died Thursday, August 22, 2024. Born in Flatwoods on January 25, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Floranc and Minnie (Mickey) Stangroom. 

Mary Jane was a member of Miracle Ridge Baptist Church in Forward Township. She especially loved the Lord and her family. She enjoyed baking, cooking and assembling jigsaw puzzles. Mary Jane had a very happy personality and loved to laugh!  

She is survived by her husband, Virgil G. Simonson; children, Donna (Herman) Glover of Johns Island, SC, Alan R. (Nancy) Hayden of Fayette City, Valerie L. (Kevin) Brown of Donora and Marlene J. Simonson of Donora; special daughter, Lori Cumer of Donora; grandchildren, Joseph (Olga) Glover, Amanda Glover, David (Emilie) Hayden, Daniel (Courtney) Hayden, Jonathan (Heather) Hayden, Timothy Hayden, Kristopher (Amanda) Brown and Brandyn Brown; special grandson, Scott Steuernagel; and 17 great grandchildren.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandchildren, Kyle Glover, Elisabeth Hayden and Jordan Bell; her brothers, George, Harry, Clyde and Walter Stangroom; and sisters, Beatrice Cekus and Catherine Hayden. 

Friends will be received on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township (724-929-7934) www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com where a Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with her son, Pastor Alan R. Hayden, officiating. Interment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park.
