Naomi R. Coughenour, 84, formerly Naomi Altman, of Rostraver Township went home to be with the Lord and her late husband, Donald W. Coughenour on Saturday, October 31, 2015. Born in Hempfield Twp on April 21, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Lucy (Fox) Altman.
Naomi was born and raised in Middletown. She was a graduate of Greensburg High School and in 1953 received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Asbury College in Wilmore, KY. In January of 1964, Naomi was elected to be on the First Board of Christian Education at Olive Branch Baptist Church where she was a long time member. She taught at the Valley Nursery School from 1963 - 1988 until she retired.
She will be extraordinarily missed by her surviving children, Donna Faulds and husband Hugh of Orlando, FL, Cheryl Gantner and husband Greg of Star Junction, Diana Faulds and husband Keith of Ellenton, FL and Kevin Coughenour and wife Julie of Nokesville, VA; 6 grandchildren, Kelley Gantner, Chad Gantner, Heather Faulds, Alexa Faulds, Audrey Coughenour and Evan Coughenour; 3 great grandchildren, Hannah, Benjamin and Austin Sadler; brother, Walter L. Altman, Jr. of Greensburg and sister, Patricia Allshouse of New Stanton.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Belle Vernon/Rostraver Township (724-929-7934) www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com where a Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ken Sommerfeldt officiating. Interment will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery.
