Norma J. Patterson, 76, of Rostraver Township, died Friday, February 12, 2016 in Mon Valley Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Elizabeth Township on January 19, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Steve Kurutz Jr. and Mary (Balko) Kurutz.
Norma was a waitress at Sweeney's Restaurant for many years and most recently at Dennys Restaurant in Belle Vernon for over 20 years. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in West Newton. She was a great homemaker, an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews. She took wonderful, loving care of her husband, Frank, until his death in 2006.
She is survived by her sisters, Mary Ann (Chuck) Harris of West Newton, who was her caregiver and Julia "Tudy" (Pat) Moreman of Greensburg; brother, Steven R. (Marilyn) Kurutz of Duquesne; her "girls", Debbie, Tammy several nieces and nephews; several great nieces and great nephews; and her special companion, Fred "Hook" DiVirgilio of Perryopolis.
In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Frank Patterson and their faithful dog, Tiny.
Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Belle Vernon/Rostraver Township (724-929-7934) www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com where Parting Prayers will be held Tuesday at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Family Catholic Church, West Newton with Rev. John Sweeney and Rev. James Bump concelebrating. Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery.
