Robert J. Kopanic, Sr., 73, of Rostraver Twp., died Thursday, November 17, 2016 in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. Born in North Charleroi on April 4, 1943, he was the son of the late Joseph P. Kopanic Sr. and Pauline J. (Haluch) Kopanic.
Bob was a retired Operations Manager at Veolia Environmental Chestnut Valley Landfill in McClellandtown. After his retirement, he worked as a funeral attendant for the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc. He was a member of the Church of St. Anne in Rostraver Twp. Bob enjoyed playing his trumpet and was an active member of many Polka Bands over the years. He served his country in the PA Army National Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia A. (Ludwick) Kopanic; children, Robert Jr. of Wisconsin, Julie Ann of Rostraver Twp. and Jeffrey and wife Jennifer of Murrysville; grandchildren, Benjamin and Wyatt and Westley and Everson; sisters, Frances P. Kopanic, Geraldine L. (James) Stump and Joanie K. (Gary) Beck all of Rostraver Twp.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph P. Kopanic Jr.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Belle Vernon/Rostraver Township (724-929-7934) www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com where a Blessing Service will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in the Church of St. Anne, Rostraver Township with Rev. Vincent J. Gigliotti as celebrant. Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery.
