William G. Upperman

William G. ''Bill'' Upperman, 91, formerly of North Charleroi, died Tuesday, February 23, 2021. Born in Webster in 1929, he was the son of the late William and Sarah Jane (O'Donnell) Upperman.
Bill worked at Wheeling/Pittsburgh Steel in Monessen for over 25 years, where he relished and sharedmany stories of his days operating the Bobcat. He was a former member of Mel Hileman Ministries. He loved fishing with his son, hunting with his son-in-law and attending Pirate games with his granddaughters. His children called him the "Best Dad Ever" and made sure that he knew it. Bill was a simple man with simple needs, and what meant most to him was that those he loved were happy and healthy.
He is survived by his sons, Terry L. (Cindy) Upperman and Timothy M. Upperman; daughter, Deborah L. (Christopher) Ball; granddaughters, Tania Upperman (Tim Edge) and Taylor Upperman; great grandchildren, Ireland Grace, Ethan and Easton Edge; siblings, Jane Martin, Harry "Buddy" (Dorothy) Upperman and Judy Gillespie; and his beloved cat, TJ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Alice (Casson) Upperman; son William T. Upperman; siblings, Helen Painter, Ann M. Dunn, Margaret Cooper, James Upperman, Theodore Upperman and Charles Upperman; and his long-time companion, Thelma Jean.
Friends will be received on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township (724-929-7934) www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com Interment will be in West Newton Cemetery.
Everyone attending the visitation and services must wear a mask and practice social distancing. Only 40 people are permitted in the funeral home at a time.
A special "Thank You" to the staff at New Castle Carriage Manor and to the nurses and aides at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to your local Humane Society or Meals on Wheels.
